Statement
As an artist based in Louisville, Kentucky, my work focuses on capturing and celebrating the beauty of being human, both in earthly beauty and in the essence that shines through the human eye. In my paintings, I blend realism with psychedelic color transitions, creating a visual delight that invites viewers to pause and find moments of beauty in the world around them.
My paintings are characterized by their bright, beautiful colors and intentional, layered brush strokes and blends. I often incorporate floral designs and rhinestones to add a decorative, ethereal quality. By juxtaposing realistic portraiture with these bold, fantastical elements, I aim to create a sense of wonder and awe, drawing the viewer into a space where reality and imagination coexist.
Through my work, I strive to celebrate the beauty of human existence, encouraging viewers to look deeper and appreciate the extraordinary within the ordinary. Each piece is crafted with the intent to not only capture a likeness but to evoke a sense of connection and admiration for the subject's inner and outer beauty.
Ultimately, my goal is to leave a lasting impression, sparking a moment of reflection and appreciation for the intricate, colorful tapestry of life.
Biography
Catherine was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, to a family who encouraged her artistic development from a young age. She considers this one of life’s greatest gifts. She studied drawing and painting at Northern Kentucky University, and has grown exponentially because of her valuable schooling. Her current body of work focuses on portraiture as she consistently pushes to experiment with new techniques and ideas. She remains a student of her own artistic journey.
